Welcome to my wedding planning blog. The purpose of this blog is not to meet new people. It's my journal so to speak about my wedding planning experiences. I'm getting married in Fresno California. For those of you who know anything about Central California, Fresno is somewhat a well known central location. It's a great place to live in my opinion.
Here I am in the early stages of planning my wedding, and I feel quite overwhelmed
My best friend (we'll call her Betty) got married last year, and now she thinks she's an expert wedding planner. She's also being very bossy, and pushy about her new found expertise. I don't have the heart to tell her that I thought her wedding was horrific!
I want the perfect wedding with all the best wedding services available in our area. I don't care if their from Fresno or not. I'll pay extra to bring in someone from far away if need be. This is the only wedding I plan on ever having and I want to do it right. By this I mean, skimping on "Wow" is not an option.
Betty (my friend) has some crazy idea that I don't need a wedding consultant. I've been referred to one that has been said to be the best in the Valley. She can point me to the best photographer, DJ, banquet hall, ceremony location, etc., and also, help me to stay within my budget. She also, does not add on any fees, and charges a flat fee for all of her services. I feel that she will be my most valuable vendor of all. Betty on the other hand told me "fire your wedding planner", I can help you. Uhhhhh, no thanks
Betty just doesn't understand that I don't want a wedding like she had. She boasts about spending only $600.00 for her wedding photographer. I've seen her wedding pictures, , , and they look like photos my grandpa with one eye could have taken. Her photographer that day (I was the maid of honor) also, was very un organized, and he kept us for hours that day. We thought he'd never be done. The wedding reception was so boring. The DJ had equipment that looked like he borrowed it from some high-school teenager's room, and the sound was even worse. Again, Betty thought it was great because she got the DJ for only $400.00 for the whole night. Her cake was dry, and tasteless, the flowers looked wilted and thrown together, and the food tasted like #@%$#@!
Needless to say, I don't have the heart yet to tell Betty that I don't need or want her help with my wedding planning. This is my venting about it right here. I'll muster up the courage to sit her down, and tell her that I want a wedding that is exactly the way I want it, not a low-budget disaster. Of course I'll try to be tactful. I'll blog some more when I can find the time. I'm working full-time, and go to school as well. Finding time for the wedding planning is not easy. That's all the more reason why I do not want to fire my wedding planner.
